February’s almost over and spring is well on its way to Florida. Most of this week, it’s been in the seventies! All of this warm weather, with its sunny days, has me dreaming of my next vacation!
Of course, vacations cost money and for us budget-minded folks, getting the best deal on a trip can be the deciding factor between a weekend get-away and a week-long stay. So, if you’re like me and ready to start planning your next vacation, start by visiting these websites to find the best travel discounts!
- Groupon Getaways: Most of us are familiar with Groupon for local dining and activity discounts—but, did you know they also have worldwide travel discounts? The site offers a large variety of deals on hotels, resorts and cruises. (Some of the packages even include airfare!) For select deals, you can book your travel dates directly through the Groupon website. Otherwise, Groupon provides you with a voucher and you contact the merchant yourself for booking. Personally, I’ve found that Groupon Getaways are great for discovering new destinations at excellent prices.
- Travelzoo: This was the first discount travel site I ever used! It’s similar to Groupon in that it offers specials on travel, hotels, dining and activities. However, the team at Travelzoo seems to be more selective. The website’s best feature is its Top 20 list. Every week, they have over 250 experts find the best deals from all over the world and use the most competitive offers to create their Top 20 list. Go to their website to sign up to receive the weekly list in your email.
- VRBO/HomeAway: Instead of booking your next stay at a hotel or resort, why not stay in someone else’s home? Both VRBO (Vacation Rentals by Owner) and HomeAway allow homeowners to rent out their homes to everyday people like you and me, often for lower daily rates than you’d pay at a hotel. Home rentals are great because they allow for more freedom and privacy than a traditional hotel. Depending on how much you’re willing to spend, they also offer more amenities—like their own swimming pools and hot tubs! Best of all, they’re typically managed by a third party company so renters always have someone to contact in case of an emergency. To be honest, having rented through both of these sites, this has become our favorite way to travel!
No matter which of these sites you use to plan your next vacation, all of them will save you time and money. Hopefully, they save you so much money, you can even extend your trip! 🙂
